Guided Canoe Trips – 2003

January 11 -      Elm Fork, Highway 121 to Sandy Lake Road, 10 miles, diverse riparian habitat,   Trinity Mills bridge site circa 1891.

February 8 -       West Fork, Mountain Creek to Sylvan, 6+ miles, Eagle Ford shale outcrops, 2 small rapids depending on river level.

March 8 -           West Fork, Highway 360 to Mountain Creek, 12 miles, Eagle Ford shale outcrops,
                        small rapids depending on river level, may have difficult access, seldom paddled.

April 12 -          Trinity Main Stem, South Loop 12 to  Dowdy Ferry, 8+ miles, Great Trinity Forest, McCommas Bluff  Preserve, navigation lock and dam circa 1905.

May 10 -            Trinity Main Stem, Sylvan to South Loop 12, 10 miles, Downtown Dallas, Great Trinity Forest, Miller's Ferry site.

June 14 -           Elm Fork, California Crossing to Frazier Dam, 6+ miles, L. B. Houston Nature Area,    Campion Trail, diverse riparian and small lake habitat.

July 12 -            Elm Fork, Belt Line Road to California Crossing, 8+ miles, Keenan Bridge site circa 1886, diverse  riparian and small lake habitat, native hibiscus in bloom.

August 9 -         Elm Fork, California Crossing to Frazier Dam, 6+ miles, L.B. Houston Nature Area, Campion Trail, diverse riparian and small lake habitat, native hibiscus in bloom.

September 13 -   Trinity Main Stem, Sylvan to South Loop 12, 10 miles, Downtown Dallas, Great Trinity Forest, Miller's Ferry site.

October 11 -      Elm Fork, Belt line Road to California Crossing, 8+ miles, Keenan Bridge site circa 1886, diverse  riparian and small lake habitat, Cardinal flowers in bloom.

November 8 -     Trinity Main Stem, South Loop 12 to  Dowdy Ferry, 8+ miles, Great Trinity Forest, McCommas Bluff  Preserve, navigation lock and dam circa 1905.

December 13 -    West Fork, Beach Street to Handley Ederville Road, 5 to 7 miles, Gateway Park, possible small rapids depending on river level, one portage

Upper West Fork and Mountain Creek trips depend on adequate rainfall.  If these sections are run-able, trip locations may be rescheduled to take advantage of this.  Meeting time for all trips is 8:30 a.m. unless otherwise indicated.  Call Charles Allen at 214-941-1757 for meeting place and other information.

All guided trips are paid in advance. Cancellations 30 days or less before the trip date are not refundable.

Trips are held rain or shine - there are no rain checks or weather related refunds.
