January 12 -        Elm Fork, Highway 121 to Sandy Lake Road, 10 miles, Eagle Ford shale, diverse riparian habitat, 1891 Trinity Mills bridge site, good access.

 

February 9  -       West Fork, Beach St. to Handley-Ederville, 7 miles, small rapids, Gateway Park, Fossil Creek, Lower Cretaceous limestone, one or more portages, seldom paddled.

 

March 8  -          West Fork, Roy Orr bridge to Mountain Creek, 8 miles, small rapids, Bear Creek, Woodbine sandstone, Eagle Ford shale, steep put-in, seldom paddled.

 

April 12  -              Trinity Main Stem, South Loop 12 to  Dowdy Ferry, 8+ miles, Great Trinity Forest, McCommas Bluff Preserve, 1905 navigation lock and dam, difficult access.

 

May 10 -            Trinity Main Stem, Sylvan to South Loop 12, 10 miles, Downtown Dallas, Great Trinity Forest, Miller's Ferry site, White Rock Creek, Upper Cretaceous limestone.

 

June 14 -            West Fork, Mountain Creek to Sylvan, 6+ miles, Eagle Ford shale, small rapids, confluence of West and Elm Forks, springs and seeps, good birding, easy access.

 

July 12 -             West Fork, Highway 360 to Roy Orr bridge, 4+ miles, Cross Timbers, small rapids, Woodbine sandstone bluffs, Dorothy Spur trestle, one portage, steep take-out.

 

August 9 -          Elm Fork, California Crossing to Frazier Dam, 6+ miles, L.B. Houston Nature Area, Campion Trail, diverse riparian - small lake habitat, native hibiscus, easy access.

 

September 13 -   Trinity Main Stem, Sylvan to South Loop 12, 10 miles, Downtown Dallas, Great Trinity Forest, Miller's Ferry site, White Rock Creek, Upper Cretaceous limestone.

 

October 11 -       Elm Fork, Belt line Road to California Crossing, 8+ miles, 1886 Keenan Bridge site, diverse riparian and small lake habitat, native hibiscus, Cardinal flowers.

 

November 8 -     West Fork, Handley-Ederville Road to Greenbelt, 9 miles, Randoll Mill site, Lower Cretaceous limestone, small rapids, seldom paddled, difficult take-out.

 

December 13 -    West Fork, Greenbelt to Highway 360, 9 miles, River Legacy park, proximity of Bird's Fort site, Woodbine sandstone, seldom paddled, difficult access.

Meeting time for all trips is 8:30 a.m. River conditions can change quickly; scheduled trip locations may be changed to find the best boating conditions. All guided trips must be paid in advance. Cancellations 30 days or less before the trip date are not refundable. Trips are held rain or shine - there are no rain checks or weather related refunds.
